We compared the prices of basic food products in some of the most popular online supermarkets
Aussies are no longer just buying electronics and clothing online – grocery shopping with home delivery has become popular as well. This can be proven by the increasing selection of online supermarkets and their growing reach.
In this article, we check out the buying conditions at major stores where you can buy, among other things, grocery products.
There are two different types of supermarkets which offer home delivery. The first type consists of supermarkets which have traditional, physical stores, but also offer their products in their online counterparts. Those are supermarkets such as Woolworths, Harris Farm, Coles and IGA.
The second type consists of stores, which offer their products only online.
Let’s take a closer look at the terms of delivery in Australian supermarkets.
Woolworths offers its delivery services in all of Australia, with delivery fees depending on your location. Free delivery is a subscription-only service. It is also worth noting that there is a minimum order value of $50.
Harris Farm delivers in NSW, VIC, QLD and ACT. Delivery fees vary from being completely free up to $14.99, depending on your order value (under $99.99 – delivery fee of $14.99, over $250 – free). Just as in Woolworths, there is a minimum order value of $50.
Coles offers its delivery services in all of Australia. Delivery fees depend on the selected time window. Just as in previous stores, there is a minimum order value of $50. Coles offers free delivery on all orders over $250.
Iga delivers in all of Australia, with fees varying from $4 up to $12. There is a minimum order value, which varies from store to store. Free delivery is offered, however, it is limited-time-only and is not always available.
IGA offers the best delivery terms out of all the included stores, however, free delivery is not always available. If free delivery is what you’re after, consider shopping in Coles.
While you’re planning your grocery shopping online, it is worth considering using discount codes and cashback. In Picodi you will find discount codes for Woolworths and Coles.
