Indians are no longer just buying electronics and clothing online – grocery shopping with home delivery has become popular as well. This can be proven by the increasing selection of online supermarkets and their growing reach.
In this article, we check out the buying conditions at major stores where you can buy, among other things, grocery products.
There are two different types of supermarkets which offer home delivery. The first type consists of supermarkets which have traditional, physical stores, but also offer their products in their online counterparts.
The second type consists of stores, which offer their products only online, such as BigBasket, Amazon, Flipkart and Blinkit.
Let’s take a closer look at the terms of delivery in Indian supermarkets.
BigBasket offers delivery in selected areas with a delivery fee of up to ₹60. There is no minimum order value, and free delivery is offered on orders over ₹1,000.
Amazon offers its delivery services in selected cities. The delivery costs ₹59 on all orders. The minimum order value is ₹249. Amazon offers free delivery on all orders over ₹499.
Flipkart delivers its products throughout all of India. The delivery fees depend on location. The minimum order value is ₹300, with free delivery on all orders over ₹1,300.
Blinkit offers delivery services in 23 cities across India. Delivery costs depend on location. There is no minimum order value. It is worth noting that Blinkit offers free delivery on all orders over ₹49.
Out of the stores included, Blinkit offers the best terms, with free delivery on orders over ₹49 and no minimum order value. The second best choice would be Amazon, with free delivery on orders over ₹499.
While you’re planning your grocery shopping online, it is worth considering using discount codes and cashback. In Picodi you will find cashback deals in Flipkart, as well as discount codes in Amazon, Blinkit and BigBasket.
