Price of fruits in India and around the world

Picodi.com analysis team checked prices of the most popular fruits in 98 countries and ranked places from the cheapest to the most expensive.

Apples and oranges

Among 98 investigated countries, India placed 43^rd when it comes to the price of apples—on average ₹137 for 1 kilogram. The most expensive are Puerto Rico (₹474/kg), South Korea (₹476/kg), and Japan (₹518/kg). On the other side of the ranking are European countries like Poland (₹57/kg), Turkey (₹55/kg) and the cheapest country—Ukraine (₹52/kg).

As for bananas, India placed 3^rd with an average price of just ₹51 for 1 kilogram. It is similar to Colombia where banana lovers would pay around ₹49 per kilogram, and Paraguay—₹53. The cheapest price was noted in Pakistan with ₹42 for a kilogram of bananas.

When it comes to the price of oranges, India placed 10^th out of 98 with the average price of ₹71. The nation which can enjoy the cheapest oranges is Egyptians (₹34/kg), while Japanese — again — would have to pay the biggest price (₹409/kg)

For the currency conversion, we used the average Google Finance rates for May 2020. Compared to the previous year, the price increase for these 3 fruits ranges from 5 to 8%. The after-effects of the coronavirus pandemic may lead to a rapid price change.
