We compared the prices of basic food products in some of the most popular online supermarkets
Pakistanis are no longer just buying electronics and clothing online – grocery shopping with home delivery has become popular as well. This can be proven by the increasing selection of online supermarkets and their growing reach.
In this article, we check out the buying conditions at major stores where you can buy, among other things, grocery products.
There are two different types of supermarkets which offer home delivery. The first type consists of supermarkets which have traditional, physical stores, but also offer their products in their online counterparts. Those are supermarkets such as Carrefour, Metro and Al Fatah.
The second type consists of stores, which offer their products only online, such as Naheed and Grocer.
Let’s take a closer look at the terms of delivery in Pakistani supermarkets.
Al Fatah offers its delivery services in Major Pakistani cities. Delivery fee depends on the order’s weight (starting at Rs. 150 for 5 kg, ending at Rs. 2,000 for 50 kg). The minimum order value is Rs. 350. Al Fatah does not offer free delivery to its customers.
Metro delivers to Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Faisalabad and Multan. The delivery fee is Rs. 99. There is no minimum order value, however, every order under Rs. 2,500 has an additional charge. It is worth noting that there is a free delivery option available for orders over Rs. 2,500.
Naheed delivers in all of Pakistan with standard shipping costing Rs. 199 and express shipping costing Rs. 325. There is no minimum order value. Naheed does not offer free delivery.
Carrefour delivers across all of Pakistan. The delivery fees vary from Rs. 95 for Carrefour Express and Rs. 175 for Carrefour Standard. There is a minimum order value of Rs. 1,000 for cash on delivery orders. Carrefour offers free delivery to its customers (Rs. 1,000 for Express, Rs. 2,000 for Standard).
Grocer App is available only in Lahore. The delivery fee is Rs. 79 with no minimum order value. Grocer offers free delivery on orders over Rs. 2,999.
Metro offers the lowest delivery costs, however, it is not available everywhere. If you want to be sure that your order will be delivered to your doorstep, consider shopping with Carrefour, which also offers low delivery costs, as well as free delivery.
While you’re planning your grocery shopping online, it is worth considering using discount codes and cashback. In Picodi you will find cashback deals in Metro, as well as discount codes for Carrefour.
